Sunny Kaila

Though Sunny never could have imagined his journey would take him to where he is today, signs of his entrepreneurial spirit emerged at a young age. 

As Sunny tells it, “As a farmer boy born in India, I began building my entrepreneurial spirit and grit from a young age as I helped my father and grandfather with manual farm work after school.” 

When he had the opportunity to move to the United States, which he did despite not yet speaking English, a little before turning 18, that spirit grew when he made the jump from full-time gas station attendant to taxi driver, a profession where Sunny says you have to hustle to earn your living every single day. He then spent the next two years driving 12 hours a day, seven days a week. 

Eventually, Sunny’s journey took him back to completing school. During this time, he focused on learning English and began studying computers, ultimately culminating in a degree in computer engineering (which he achieved while continuing to drive cabs on the weekend!). 

After a stint in a traditional office job, Sunny found himself with his first clients and was well on his way to building the global company that exists today. “After completing my degree,” he says, “I got my first tech job as a ‘computer guy’ in Midtown, NYC. They didn’t have much of a budget to pay me, but I saw it as an opportunity, so I  didn’t mind. 

“However, after a few years, I realized that I wasn’t earning enough, particularly as I had gotten married. So, I began taking on odd computer jobs and projects on the weekend to make extra money.” 

Sunny’s entrepreneurial spirit and business savvy only grew as he began promoting himself. “To find clients, I printed brochures and would spend my lunch hours dropping them off with receptionists at buildings around the city,” he says. “After continuing to grow my client base, in 2003 I told my current boss that I wanted to start my own business.

“Luckily, my boss was supportive and told me he wanted to stay on as my client and offered me office space in the same building so I could remain nearby. 

“Eventually, I was able to hire one tech and then another. Many years later, we are now 600+ techs working together to make an impact in this world.”

After many years of entrepreneurship, Sunny stumbled upon Strategic Coach^® in 2021, and his life has never been the same. “Strategic Coach is the best thing that’s happened to me in the last three years,” he says. “It’s changed everything I do in a positive way—from how I scale my business to how I create my company culture and operate both at work and at home.
